World stars in Hungary again: Ethan Hawke and Oscar Isaac spotted by Lake Balaton
Hungary has proven many times now to be one of Hollywood filmmakers’ favourite locations. Another Marvel production started shooting in the capital in the spring, so fans can run into four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke and Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac on the streets of Budapest, or, as it turns out, near Lake Balaton as well.
According to Telex, the two famous actors were photographed in a confectionery in Balatonfüred. According to Kedves Confectionery’s Facebook post, the American actors arrived completely unexpectedly, ordered two rounds of coffee, and were very kind.
Later, according to 24.hu, Isaac and Hawke were also spotted at the BazsaLicom Bistro in Balatonfüred, having a hamburger. Their reader told 24.hu that the stars were very kind and open and also willingly posed for a photo.
They were photographed earlier in April on Margaret Island after a run by a reporter of RTL Klub, Zsolt Gosztonyi, writes Telex.
Isaac and Hawke arrived in Hungary to shoot the Marvel series Moon Knight, which will be made in the coming months and is planned to premiere in 2022 on Disney+.
The six-part series is going to tell the story of a mercenary named Marc Spector (who will be played by Oscar Isaac) who receives powers from Khonshu, the ancient Egyptian moon god, after almost dying, and uses his superpowers to fight crime under the name Moon Knight. The character is said to be the Batman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though he also has dissociative identity disorder. Ethan Hawke will play the film’s as yet unnamed protagonist.
Isaac is probably already familiar with Budapest, as he shot the Dune remake in Hungary last year.
As we reported earlier, Budapest seems to be full of movie stars these days: a film adaptation of the Borderlands video games is also being shot, starring Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, and Jaime Lee Curtis, who is extremely happy to be in Budapest because of her Hungarian origins. You can also run into Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, or Mark Ruffalo, who are making the movie Poor things.

Marvel filmmakers are also familiar with the Hungarian capital, as the newest Marvel movie, Black Widow, was also shot in Budapest. The interesting thing about this movie is that although the capital often plays other locations in Hollywood films, this time, Budapest really appears as Budapest, as we can finally find out what exactly the infamous Budapest adventure of the Black Widow and Hawkeye was.
